Professional History
I feel that all of life's experiences can be great teaching moments and that there is no one "Right Way" to become good at what you do. I haven't always taken the most traditional paths to become skilled in my craft, but in the end, I feel as though I have gained a more rounded education than many students that went through the traditional college route alone. Over the last 12 years, I have worked in many types of job environments, from small mom-and-pop repair shops to multi-national corporations to being a traveling field technician and working in a medical setting. This wide range has made me a jack of all trades.
Career Highlights
Everyone's story begins somewhere
Mine started at a young age and sprouted from curiosity and fascination with the world around me. I first started by taking apart household electronics but soon moved to repair friends' and family's personal computers.
On the long and winding road

After leaving Greenville, I became a traveling field technician. I worked with many big-box stores like T-Mobile, Best Buy, and Sam's Club. I had quite a big range, traveling everywhere from DC, Atlanta, Asheville, and everywhere in between.
Next steps and future goals

While working for the hospital, I realized that I could greatly benefit from formalizing everything I have learned and have decided to pursue several professional certificates. I have decided to specialize in either network administration or cyber security. I am still early on in this process and hope that by gaining these certificates I can clarify my path forward. Some of the certificates I am pursuing include but are not limited to Cisco CCNA and CompTIA Security +
Learning to design websites

I designed my first website for my dad's business and learned heaps along the way. After building that confidence, I offered my services to other companies and eventually became a webmaster for a growing business in desperate need of help.
Starting my own business

After working for other people for many years, I decided to try my hand at captaining my ship. I had moderate success at this and learned a lot but quickly realized that it can be a bit overwhelming. My customer relations skills and conflict management skills improved exponentially. I will always be grateful for this time, as it tested my mettle and showed me where I need to improve.
Moving to an enterprise environment
When I made the jump from a small business to a multi-national corporation, I learned a lot in a short period. While working here, I learned discipline and that the only to improve is never to stop learning. Not all lessons have to be taught in a classroom.
Finding purpose in a medical setting
Midway through the Covid pandemic, I worked with a world-class hospital system. I was able to, in some small way, help the brave front-line workers do their job more effectively by ensuring that they could focus on their patients instead of why the computer wasn't working. Professionally this catapulted me into an environment that I loved, and I learned untold knowledge from my colleagues

Where I'm Headed
In 5 to 10 years' time, I hope to be in a place professionally where I can pursue more personal adventures like traveling the world (more to come on that). I have set some pieces in place but know that much more lies ahead of me. I am ready and excited to see what the next chapter brings and hope that I can include you in this tapestry that I am weaving.
