Hello
Hello, my name is Ben Cothren, and I created this page to help people and potential employers get to know me a little. I have enjoyed working with computers and tech since I was a teenager. I have taken some formal training classes but have mostly learned from in-field experience. I believe this has shown me what is most useful in day-to-day operations and has allowed me to learn real-world troubleshooting skills. I work well in team environments both as a team member and a team lead. The years I have spent working directly with customers have taught me how to work respectfully and effectively with all types of people. I can't wait to work with your team and look forward to talking to you more.
Professional History
Learning from the school of hard knocks and on the ground training.
I got started working on computers the same way I feel like many people in my age group did, tinkering with the family computer. Thankfully my parents were patient with me when I would take apart all kinds of household electronics to see how they worked. They would often work after, but now and again, I would let the "magic smoke" out of the capacitors, which was a great way to learn to solder. My first real job in the computer repair industry was in a local repair shop at 18. This was a great experience as it was my first real taste of how the industry's business side works. From there, I would move on to the enterprise environment, which was something completely new and exciting that had its rewards and challenges.

Personal Story
I was born and raised in Wilmington, NC, a small beach town in southeast North Carolina. I enjoyed hanging out at the beach and was always ready to seek out the next outdoor adventure. The Boy Scouts played a significant role in my formative years and taught me lifelong lessons that I still use today. I learned about team management and resource planning while pursuing and ultimately earning my Eagle Scout honors. After High School, I decided I needed to move away from my hometown and see more of the world as lovely as Wilmington is. Little did I know at the time what adventures awaited me.
